David Curtis

About David

David Curtis was born in Doncaster in 1948. He headed an engineering design team until 1988 when he became a full time painter.

He was elected to the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1983 and a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1988. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition, he also lectures and demonstrates at major art events in the country.

Essentially a ‘plein air’ and figurative painter, working in both oils and watercolours, he observes transient lighting conditions and the effects of the atmosphere in his compositions.
